First settled by Dutch traders, Pennsylvania was chartered to William Penn in 1681. During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, many important and prominent families established themselves in the colony. Following is a collection of genealogical records beginning with these early families and including biographical sketches of family members, vital records of births, marriages, and deaths, and accomplishments of the family as a whole. For researchers of early Pennsylvania ancestors, this can be a source of detailed and helpful information.
